The sun and the moon..

On safari with Nino in August to Makumi.
The sun was setting at 6.15ish to our right as we were leaving at the end of a wonderful day of
nature at its most amazing.

We stopped the jeep and to our left the full moon was rising. They were both in the same sky, at the same level at the same time.

I have never seen anything like it. Incredible!!!

That was one of those precious moments that I will always, always remember.
A perfect ending to a perfect day.

Nino took some awesome ( am running out of superlatives ) photographs
of hippos, lions, trees, birds, giraffes, elephants....He's pretty good at taking snaps ; )

Would love to be back there for just a moment.
I miss him, his spirt, energy and stupid sense of humour. I laughed so much in the 9 days that I knew him that I was almost on my way to developing a six pack..

Gadgets

After the untimely passing of both my mac book and my camera I thought I was up shit creek without a paddle. And then, the universe delivers an i-pad and a camera.

Sarah is lending me her camera and Neels & Greg bought me an i-pad. More on them later.

So happy to be gadgeted up again! Can't wait to start snapping again!

United Nations of Friends

England, Scotland, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Thank you to Asana, Graham, Sarah, Mario, Neels, Greg, Michael, Jimmi and Victoria and of course Pannasekara for joing me for drinks and a bite to eat on my birthday.

James Bond, Sarah Jessica Parker Producer, A Buddhist Monk, Masai Warrior & Model & Mr Tanzania all round the table. Twas ace. Then onto dance til 4am on a Tuesday night. Hilarious and super good fun.

Lovely card and gift from Graham and from Greg too and friends bought dinner and drinks.

Tis a birthday I will always cherish.
I am how old. Jeezo!???

Facebook Friends

There is nothing lovelier than hearing from long lost friends from all over the world, no matter where they are or what they are doing, when on your birthday, they get in touch. It's wonderful!

Who cares if FB told them it was my birthday and they felt obliged to say hello and wish me many happy returns.. it meant that I thought about them and reconnected with some I hadn't been able to catch up with before now.

Very grateful for all the lovely messages!!

And to Alison who emailed me a song!! ( She is not on FB )

My Birthday

Was on the 1st September and this time last year I was loved up with the ex boyfriend and we'd stayed with his lovely parents the night of the 31st. We woke up and went downstairs for breakfast and I burst into tears as his lovely mum had cooked a wonderful breakfast, sang happy birthday and had decorated the entire dining room in balloons and banners. Fitzy also kept asking what I wanted to do for my birthday but I really did not feel like it.

Looking back I cannot believe that a year has passed. It is frightening!
With the benefit of hindsight I was not happy and I'm not entirely sure why,
perhaps it was the stress of a difficult divorce, living in a space which I did not like
and not being as busy and as fulfilled as I could have been.

This year was so very, very different and I am so blessed and happy to be 'here'.
( not geographically )
Older, hopefully wiser and more empowered and able to deal with whatever stuff comes up.
I thought Fitzy could 'fix' me during and after my divorce carry on. I realise now that the only
person who could fix me was me.  Last year was challenging emotionally, spiritually, financially
this year its a heckofa lot more rewarding. Balance and all that.
I also thank Fitzy for not being able to fix me or us, if everything had been ticketyboo then I would not be here now.

I did of course miss my friends, thankfully I have some superb ones here, which leads me to..

Sarah Scott Productions

is a gift! We've been working together on projects for NBC Bank and Vodacom and she has asked me to be a partner in Sarah Scott Productions. Loving this! Its been a steep learnign curve, everything here takes way much longer than anywhere else I have ever worked and I thought Moscow was tough in 1999!?

Just have to strike a balance. Want to hit the ground running, though have to take into consideration that this is Africa. We have power cuts every single day which causes havoc on the roads, there is no air con, no internet and when you are up against deadlines its hard and not every place can afford to have a generator, which is not only costly its darn noisy!! ( And also very bad for the environment! )

TIA

Homesick today for fresh, damp air and a long walk on the beach in Troon with Charlee.
Struggling with the heat and its getting hotter and hotter everyday.
Very busy on projects with Sarah and that is great, albeit a bit stressful.
Still have to get work visa sorted before I can earn any money, so that is weighing heavy on my mind.
Also, I am unsure as to where I will be living at the end of this month.. looks like Graham will
be going to Lebanon to take up a new job there. The end of my free living arrangements could be over
sooner rather than later!? Yikes.

New Look - Mr Price

So I didn't bank on being out here for so long.. and I ran out of clothes weeks ago!
Went shopping to Mlimani City today, its a bit like St Enoch Shopping Centre, Glasgow.
Normally I don't mind shopping but today was a day unlike no other.
Mental traffic, blsitering heat, long queues and even buying simple things
like pyjamas and underwear was like organising a military operation!?

The sizes are all wonky, they don't have most sizes stocked anyway actually and the quality is rubbish and it is so expensive!!!

Spent $200 on crap : (
